What is the SoundRacer?

How does it work?
The SoundRacer is a piece of affordable and ingenious technology that works on signals and electrical noise. Signal frequencies in the electrical cables running from the AC alternator follow the engine speed. The SoundRacer detects these signals and transforms them into a simulated RPM. The increase in the simulated RPM multiplied by a factor of 3 then produces a more exciting acceleration impression – all done without running the car’s engine at a higher RPM. The SoundRacer then generates an incredibly realistic super-sports car sound that changes according to the rev point of the car i.e. idle, acceleration at lower/higher RPM and deceleration.
How easy is it to install?
Simply slot the SoundRacer into the cigarette lighter of your car and set it to a free radio frequency. Quickly rev the engine to 2500-3000 RPM, listen for a beep, drop the revs and two further beeps will confirm your SoundRacer is installed and ready to RUUUMBLE through your FM stereo speakers! How cool is that! …And the SoundRacer offers even more: It also works as a standard car FM-transmitter for MP3 players, such as iPod and iPhone, with a line in socket that provides an input for playing music on the car stereo. A cable with 2 x 3.5 mm stereo plugs are supplied in the box.
How It Works
SoundRacer has developed a special technology to sense and calculate the car engine rpm and produce the sounds of a powerful Super Sports Car engine. The sound changes as you drive and SoundRacer even increases the speed of the engine sound so that you can drive at a normal speed and still get a very exciting engine sound.
